As one of Jamaica’s oldest distribution companies Chas E Ramson Ltd. has operated as an importer and distributor of reputable brands such as Foska Oats, Gerber, Elle & Vire, and Ramsons its own private brand. A family owned business, Chas E Ramson Ltd. has grown and expanded over the last 92 years and has done so not only through distribution, but also by making a connection with the people it serves.

This year in honouring Child Month, Gerber Baby food selected three childrens’ homes in need of assistance and donated an assortment of products totalling over J$600,000. The homes selected were – Maxfield Park Children’s home, Mustard Seed communities and Best Care Children’s home. Kathryn Silvera, advertising and marketing manager at Chas E Ramson Limited explains “while children are in need every day, Gerber made a concerted effort to celebrate Child Month with this donation. We are all about helping our children as they are the future. Gerber is a trusted name, known for promoting healthy nutritional habits. Gerber is also known for products that have all natural no preservative benefits. The products contain a wide cross section of vitamins and minerals which is exactly what our children need to stay healthy and have a bright future. These homes were chosen after careful consideration and especially with Mustard Seed communities we knew that the donation would be spread to different areas of the island to assist a lot of children in need”.

Gerber is governed by the World Health Organization (WHO) that strictly promotes breastfeeding within the first six months of life and continued breastfeeding for as long as possible. Complementary food should not be introduced before six months. Gerber is complementary food which is categorised into 1st foods (supported sitters), 2nd foods (sitters), 3rd foods (crawlers) and Graduates. Gerber has a wide variety of pureed fruits (banana, peach) vegetables (carrot and sweet potato), meals (chicken noodle, turkey rice), desserts and snacks (banana cookies, strawberry banana puffs). These are just a few of the wide cross section of products we have available. Our donations to the homes included a variety from each of our lines.
