Peace & Love 4-a-side inner-city football kicks off today
A new Peace and Love four-a-side inner-city community football competition was launched by Clive ‘Busy’ Campbell with the aim of getting the youths off the streets.
The idea came out of a desire to see the inner-city communities return to peaceful areas as well as to get the young people away from crime, the dons, hustlers and drug peddlers.
“Having a discussion with two friends, Robbie Shakespeare of Taxi Connections and Dennis Smith, we came to the conclusion that football creates a change in the lives of our inner-city youths,” said Campbell.
During the period of the World Cup that started on Thursday, the youths from the inner-city communities will come together to participate in this competition.
The first match in the competition will kick off today at 9:00 am at McKintyre Villa in Dunkirk, East Kingston, and then continue on Sunday at Nannyville, Mountain View, also scheduled to start at 9:00 am.
The event has several sponsors in Digicel; RJR Communications Group; Marley Coffee; Newstalk Radio; Western Sports; Power 106F M; Wisynco Group; Taxi Connection; Kicks for Cause Foundation; KLAS FM; Tru-Juice, and Locker Room.
