Salada to make pimento briquettes
COFFEE maker Salada Foods will be going into making pimento briquettes for local and export markets.
It advised the Jamaica Stock Exchange that it acquired a 70 per cent stake in the briquette maker, Pimora Company, for $26 million.
Salada has been diversifying its product lines, having bought food processor Roberts and investing in ginger production for its tea line.
It also has been pushing its exports and is seeking growth in traditional markets including the US and UK and non-traditional markets, such as Africa and China.
Last year, its exports sales reached $129 million, up from $80 million in 2012.
