Cocktails With – Ladianne Wade
It’s a super-busy Thursday for Ladianne Wade. We first bump into the Global Directories Caribbean director of sales at Cuddy’z sports bar where her company is feting clients at the rowdy, riveting World Cup kick-off game between Croatia and Brazil. Mere hours later, we cross paths again with the personable dynamo during the cocktail hour at the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards ceremony at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. It’s too serendipitous to pass up convo and cocktails, so we sidle over to the couch to gab.
What’s your cocktail of choice?
A sweet red wine, preferably Zinfandel.
How was your workday?
Today was pretty good; we were at Cuddyz in the afternoon with some of our customers watching the kick-off match for the World Cup and the night ended at the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards ceremony at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. Normally my days are pretty hectic with lots of meetings and conference calls.
What’s been your most rewarding moment serving as the director of sales for Global Directories Caribbean?
In my first year as director of sales we achieved increased year-over-year results in all my markets throughout the Caribbean. What made it especially rewarding was that all my sales managers were also newly promoted, so it was a difficult year but we pulled it off and continue to do well. Helping my team members grow and achieve is very rewarding for me. Coaching team members from different cultures is also challenging and rewarding.
With the expanding options in sourcing business and personal information, how do you pitch Jamaica Yellow Pages (JYP) as an attractive and viable to prospective clients?
We are the most complete and trusted source of business information and we continue to innovate and ensure we are available everywhere (print, mobile, online and via text) whenever, however and wherever users are searching. Most importantly is that we deliver to customers who have a need and are ready to buy.
What’s JYP’s competitive edge?
We have the best suite of products and the best trained team to deliver customised solutions to our customers. We also partner with the right companies — one such example is our recent partnership with Google, to market Jamaican companies both locally and internationally.
What five words best describe Ladianne?
Goal-oriented, humorous, caring, analytical, and enthusiastic.
What perfume are you spraying?
Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana.
What’s in your clutch?
My iPhone, car keys and credit card.
Who does your hair?
I have a personal stylist or I do it myself, because I have a pet peeve regarding extended hours at a hair salon.
Who does your nails?
My stylist, Desi’s or Face Place.
Do you have a secret beauty regime?
Not really, except I ensure my face is clean and moisturised before bed.
What are your must-have travel essentials?
I travel a lot for my job so I have a bag that is always packed with everything I need. Apart from that I must have my iPhone and iPad to ensure I can keep in touch with family and friends throughout my trips.
Who are your celeb crushes?
Denzel Washington and Morris Chestnut.
What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
I have received so much good advice, it is difficult to choose. One that I try to live by, though, is to plan for tomorrow but enjoy today. While I strive to be the best I can be and achieve my goals and help others around me, I enjoy life and am happy. I am blessed with a wonderful family and great friends. I do my best to enjoy each moment with them and do as much as we can together. Every day is precious.
What’s your idea of the perfect man?
I don’t believe there is a perfect man and if there was one he probably wouldn’t want to be with me. One that comes close, though, is my husband Kevin. He is kind, humorous, loves me for who I am, but let’s me know how I can improve. He is adventurous, outdoorsy and puts family first.
What’s your idea of the perfect date?
I love nature so a quiet picnic in Holywell is great. However, I also like dates that are outdoor adventures and the best one I have had was dog sledding on a glacier in Alaska; that was perfect. The best thing though is being with the one you love that makes the simplest thing PERFECT.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Continuing to grow in my career and financially. Improving every day as a wife, mother and friend, continuing to enjoy life, having a deeper relationship with God and being physically fit.
