Muller double as Germany shock Portugal 3-0 at half time
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Germany went ahead inside 12 minutes with a penalty against Portugal in their World Cup Group G match Monday morning.
Thomas Muller buried from the spot after a German attacker was pulled down inside the box.
The Germans should have doubled on the half hour mark when they broke free but the resulting shot was parried wide for a corner.
However they immediately made amends from the corner when Mats Hummel climbed high between two Portugal defenders to nod home.
Portugal was down to ten men in the 37th minute when Pepe was ejected for a head butt on Muller after the German engaged in theatrics feigning a foul.
Muller got his second goal and Germany’s third in the 45th minute with the Portuguese defence in disarray.
