Ecuador defeat Honduras 2-1
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Enner Valencia hit a brace to take Ecuador pass Honduras in the Group E World Cup match Friday evening.
Carlos Costly opened for Honduras in the 31st minute but Ecuador responded almost immediately with Valencia getting his first in the 34th minute.
The half ended 1-1 in an evenly contested game.
On the resumption Ecuador got the upper hand from the start and Valencia his double in the 65th minute.
Honduras has now suffered two defeats in the group which also includes France and Switzerland.
France defeated the Swiss 5-2 in the other Group E match on Friday to lead.
Ecuador and Switzerland are tied on three points in second.
