NESTLÉ Preparatory & Primary Swim Champs splashes off today
For the past 17 years, Nestlé Jamaica has been investing in the nutrition and physical development of children 6 to 12 years of age.
Through the support of its brands – MILO, Nestlé Breakfast Cereals, Nestlé Full Cream Milks, MAGGI, AND KLIM growing up milks, the Nestlé Preparatory and Primary Swimming Championships have grown more successful year after year.
In fact, it has become an indelible fixture on the schools’ swimming calendar across Jamaica and is awaited with much anticipation being the last for the school term. The 17th Annual Nestlé Jamaica Preparatory & Primary Schools Swim Meet will be held this weekend at the National Aquatic Centre, Independence Park.
All preliminary events for swimmers in the 7-8 & over age groups will take place today commencing at 8:30 am. Day Two will see the 6 & under swimmers splashing into action along with all the exciting finals and nail-biting finishes for the older age groups starting at 9:00 am.
The two-day event will see a total of 615 swimmers from 31 schools competing for the title of Nestlé Preparatory and Primary School Swim Champs.
The defending overall champion school for 2013 was Immaculate Conception Preparatory School with the champion boys’ school being Mona Preparatory School and the champion girls’ school — Immaculate Conception Preparatory School.
Excelsior Primary School was the top primary school. We expect that the level of competition for 2014 will be tough as all schools have been gearing up and intensifying their training to challenge and upset the status quo.
The Amateur Swimming Association of Jamaica (ASAJ) is proud to have partnered and collaborated with Nestlé over the years. Corporate Communications Manager at Nestlé Jamaica Ltd Shawna Kidd has reaffirmed the company’s strong support for the tournament, stating that the business of sports sponsorship is aligned to the strengths and nutritional values of the company’s brands and will aid the achievement of its objective of becoming the leader in nutrition, health and wellness.
“We are proud to be associated with events that allow our children to excel in sports and we embrace every opportunity to educate our consumers on the values of good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle,” Kidd added.
The ASAJ joins Nestlé in engaging and supporting the nation’s children to learn important life values – teamwork, discipline and determination through sports that can help to build a healthier and more productive society.
