Younger brother of Ivory Coast’s Yaya, Kolo Toure dies
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — The Ivory Coast Football Federation says the younger brother of national team players Yaya and Kolo Toure has died.
The Ivorian federation said Ibrahim Toure, who himself played professional football for a club in Lebanon, died Thursday.
In a statement, the IFF did not give a cause of death but said the 28-year-old Ibrahim died in Manchester, where Yaya plays his club football for Manchester City in the Premier League.
It said the Toure brothers learned of Ibrahim’s death soon after Ivory Coast’s 2-1 loss to Colombia at the World Cup in Brazil. Yaya captained the team against Colombia, while Liverpool defender Kolo was on the bench.
The federation didn’t say if the brothers would leave the World Cup.
