Ghana, Germany draw 2-2
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Ghana and Germany drew 2-2 in their Group G match on Saturday. Fresh off a 4-0 drubbing of Portugal the Germans never had things their own way with the Africans.
After a gruelling 0-0 first half Germany opened the scoring six minutes after the resumption through Mario Goetze.
But Ghana responded three minutes later in the 54th with Andre Ayew burying the ball in the German net from a defence spitting pass to equalise.
Ghana then went ahead against the mighty Germans through Asamoah Gyan in the 63rd minute causing concern for the number 2 ranked team in the world.
Calling on Miroslav Klose off the bench paid dividends for the Germans as time slipped away and Ghanaians were still competitive in the lead.
Within minutes of his introduction Klose drew the Germans level knocking in his 15th world cup goal in the 71st minute. Klose now equals Brazil’s Ronaldo for the most world Cup goals.
