AFRICA, the spiritual home of Rastafari and cradle of civilisation, is the central theme of a 12-track compilation set entitled Reggae Loves Africa.

The album was released on Tuesday by VP Records/Greensleves label.

According to a release, the set is a celebration of kinship and inspiration that Africa has provided to reggae music.

“Themes of liberation and repatriation are at the heart of reggae music. The rhythms of Africa are at reggae’s deepest roots. Africa’s history and its modern-day struggles have served as subject matter on some of reggae’s most memorable songs. [The album is] for all people of the diaspora; conscious reggae with a message of uplift and hope,” the release read.

The set boasts veteran artistes Freddie McGregor (Africa), Beres Hammond (Talking Africa), and late singer Dennis Brown (Africa We Want To Go).

The younger generation is represented by Queen Ifrica (Calling Africa), Morgan Heritage (Africa, Here We Come), Natural Blacks (Africa), and Tarrus Riley (Africa Awaits).

Reggae Loves Africa also includes Buju Banton (Mama Africa), Luciano (One Way Ticket), Tony Rebel (Africa), Warrior King (Africa Shall Be Free), and Screwdriver (Africa).
