St James make light work of Hanover
St James CA made light work of neighbours Hanover CA to wrap up an innings and 66-run victory inside yesterday’s opening day at the Trelawny Muli-purpose Stadium in the Jamaica Cricket Association’s two-day Senior Cup competition.

In Zone B, St Catherine CA, who entered the match in the number one spot, look set for first-innings honours against hosts Kingston & St Andrew CA when play resumes today.
At the close, Kingston & St Andrew reached 153-5 in reply to St Catherine CA’s imposing 365-8 declared.
The visitors’ left-handed batsman Jemarie Francis top-scored with 65, while Aveen Mullings and Coi Thompson struck 64 and 55, respectively.
Kedar Brown (58) and Shaquille Daley (53) are the top run-getters in Kingston & St Andrew’s innings so far.

In another key Zone B battle, Manchester CA took first innings points from St Catherine CC at Chedwin Park.
Manchester batted first and made a modest 182, but were able to peg back St Catherine CC, who declared on 124-9. In their second innings, Manchester inched to 9-2.

In Zone C, Jamaica Defence Force have taken charge in their match against Portland CA at Up Park Camp.
Batsmen Rasheed Outar with 152 and Joseph Palmer’s 136 pushed the soldiers to 354-4 declared before their bowlers returned to leave Portland teetering on 69-5.

Also in Zone C, home team St Mary CA have the edge against Police in their low-scoring encounter at Palmers Park.

In the other Zone C clash at the Noranda Bauxite Sports Complex in Discovery Bay, national left-handed opener John Campbell struck 159 to propel St Ann CA to a likely victory over University of the West Indies.

In Zone D’s marquee clash, Kingston CC wrested first-innings advantage from Melbourne CC. Batting a second time Kingston were 32-2 and had a lead of 176 going into today’s final day.
Earlier, middle-order batsman Garth Garvey (54) and opener Brian Clarke (52) were the two players to pass the half-century mark in Kingston’s first-innings score of 192.
Melbourne’s leg-break bowler Damion Jacobs snatched 4-53, while part-time off-spinner Andre McCarthy ended with 3-18.
Kingston’s left-arm spinner Paul Harrison then took 6-24 in wrecking Melbourne for 48.
