Burrell pleads for assistance to improve football fields
KINGSTON, Jamaica — President of the Jamaica Football Federation Captain Horace Burrell, says Jamaica’s progress in football will be stymied if playing surfaces and facilities are not brought up to world standard.
Speaking at the Jamaica Observer’s weekly Monday Exchange, Burrell bemoaned the lack of good playing surfaces and called on the private sector to step up to the plate and assist the country’s football programme.
“We are terribly hampered in this country. The private sector must recognise that football is a unifying force. If we don’t get the playing surfaces right then we are going to always be on the fringes,” Burrell said.
