Jehovah’s Witness Convention opens in Trelawny tomorrow
FLORENCE HALL, Trelawny
THOUSANDS of members of the Jehovah’s Witness faith are expected to stream into the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium here tomorrow for the beginning of the three-day convention.
The Annual District Convention, which organisers say will attract roughly 11,000 Witnesses from Westmoreland, St James, Trelawny, Hanover and St Elizabeth, will be held under the theme “Keep Seeking First God’s Kingdom”.
“People of many faiths pray for God’s Kingdom. This convention will explain what that Kingdom is, and how it can be a positive influence in our lives,” said Teddy E Clarke, a convention spokesman.
“A highlight of the programme will be the keynote address tomorrow morning, which will discuss how that Kingdom is benefiting people today,” said Clarke.
He added that the programme will also examine how the advice of Jesus to “keep seeking first God’s kingdom” can be of special interest to families.
“An example of this will be the programme on Friday afternoon entitled: ‘Teach Your Children to Love God’s Kingdom’. How the advice that Jesus gave thousands of years ago can provide practical benefits in today’s world, such as reducing anxiety in one’s life, will be addressed in the concluding part on Sunday afternoon.”
Other highlights of the convention will include the comforting Bible discourse entitled “Earth’s New Ruler?Who Really Qualifies?” to be presented on Sunday morning.
