Negril Resort Board pushes for trauma centre
NEGRIL, Westmoreland — THE Negril Resort Board says it will be pushing for the Negril Health Centre in Westmoreland to be upgraded to a trauma centre.
Speaking with the Observer West recently, Chairman of the resort board, Cliff Reynolds said, “We (Negril stakeholders) over the years have felt that the Negril Health Centre needs to be upgraded… because the closest hospital is 18 miles away in Sav (Savanna-la-Mar) and also in Lucea. So we need an emergency centre right here.
“It is something that we have been lobbying for, for years, and we need it, it is a need,” Reynolds emphasised, arguing that in recent years there have been a number of trauma cases in the resort town.
