Alia finishes 7th in 200m breaststroke final
GLASGOW, Scotland — Alia Atkinson finished seventh in the women’s 200m breaststroke final at the Tollcross Swimming Centre here on Saturday.
Atkinson, who won silver on Friday in the 50-metre breaststroke for Jamaica’s first medal at these XX Commonwealth Games, found the going tough in a strong field and could only manage to clock 2:25.48 minutes.
The race was won by Australia’s Taylor McKeown, who clocked 2:22.36 for the gold.
The silver went to McKeown’s teammate Sally Hunter in a time of 2:23.33.
Atkinson will now turn her attention to the 100m breaststroke on Sunday.
