Spanish Grain Store, Courts, KFC, T Geddes Grant, Seprod on top in 5-a-side football
Spanish Grain Store lead Kingston Bookshop by one point in Division One of the 2014 Western Sports-sponsored Business House five-a-side football competition.
Teams are trying to secure one of the six quarter-final spots. They have 21 points with Kingston Bookshop on 20 points, and Scotiabank ‘B’ on 18 points. In matches played on Monday, Dean Phillips scored the lone goal as Spanish Grain Store clipped UDC 1-0.
Akeeli Martin scored a brace in Scotiabank ‘B’ 4-1 victory over Cari-Med. Ramone Reid and Stefan Bartley were the other goal scorers, while Stefan Brooks scored the consolation for Cari-Med.
Donovan McCurdy scored a brace in Kingston Bookshop’s 2-1 victory over Progressive Grocers. Caven Genius scored for Progressive Grocers. Maritime and Transport stopped Mega-Mart 2-0 with Miguel Brown and Davion Roberts scoring.
In Zone One in Division Two, Courts are leaders with 16 points and they are followed by ICD Group of Companies and Alcor Windows and Doors with 15 points each. In Zone Two, Restaurants of Jamaica are the leaders with 21 points, Berts Auto Parts are second on 19 points and Jamaica Producers/Tropical Foods third with 16 points.
T Geddes Grant are sole leaders of Zone Three with 21 points with Heart Trust NTA and Sangster’s Bookshop next on 16 points. Returning team Seprod Limited are leaders in Zone Four with 18 points and are closely followed by UTech on 17 points and Norbrook Packaging on 16 points.
The competition continues on Monday with eight matches at the NWC playfield, Mona, starting at 6:30 pm.
