Come on now, Clovis

Dear Editor,

I usually find the Clovis cartoons to be thought-provoking and amusing.

However, yesterday’s effort (Sunday, August 3, 2014) ‘Back to Africa’ is a tasteless perpetuation of the myths that we — the majority African population of these islands — have been subjected to for years. First by our slave and colonial masters and now by our own.

It is as Annie Oakley pointed out in another sphere of oppression: “The work of the oppressor is complete when he gets the oppressed to do it for him.”

Come on, Clovis, think of the audience outside of your head.
