Rare rare winner for Paul Ramsay
You see him at the racetrack regularly, but he has not been riding a lot. Journey man jockey Paul Ramsay rode his first winner in well over a year when he piloted the Victor Williams trained Docontrack to an easy five length victory over Eazy Stepping and Fancy Cat on the August 1, Emancipation Day programme at Caymanas Park. It was a welcome return to the winners’ enclosure for Ramsay and it is sincerely hoped that the win will herald a resurgence of his career.
Tracking changes of equipment
There were two instances on Friday’s Emancipation Raceday where changes in equipment seem to have made the difference between winning and losing. Docontrack with the introduction of the tongue-tie released the maiden tag after 12 tries. Ridden by Paul Ramsay, Docontrack came on with a strong run to win handily by five lengths in 1:02:0 minutes going over 1,000 metres straight. The case of the sixth race winner Saint Theresa the removal of the figure-eight made a difference. Without the figure-eight, Saint Theresa trained by Steven Todd and ridden by Jemar Jackson easily got to the winning post by five-and-a-half lengths in front of Ministerofjustice (Jodien Anderson) and Vibes Master (Robert Halledeen) in 1:15:3 minutes for 1,200 metres. The Complete Racing Guide continues to urge our readers to track these changes of equipment.
Kippytheteacher finally releases maiden tag
After nine starts Kippytheteacher finally got it done. With the ever improving Davidan Robinson in the saddle, Kippytheteacher did enough to get him home in front of No Money Friend and Sporting Clay in 1:27:3 minutes for the 1,500 metres run. The win was an affirmation of the good season being enjoyed by trainer Ian Parsard who with his relatively small barn of horses is finding winner after winner. Based on official statistics Kippytheteacher was Parsard’s tenth winner of the year. Good job.
