EMANCIPATION weekend’s staging of SPF 2014 met all its targets and the wheels are already in motion for next year, according to one of the event organisers Kevin Bourke.

“It was absolutely what we expected and we have been receiving positive feedback during the parties until now,” Bourke told the Jamaica Observer.

The three-day event ran from August 1 to 3 giving patrons four key events to enjoy. Day one saw the exclusive afternoon SPF: Cat Cruise at the Jewel Dunn’s River, followed the same day by BNM: Eye Candy, at Cary Island. Day two’s party was the day into night party SPF Fiction: Beach at Sunset Beach, White River. Day three of SPF saw the big finale SOIREE: SPF-03 at Bay Beach, Ocho Rios.

“We delivered on what our patrons expected in terms of a premium experience for food and entertainment,” Bourke said.

Bourke added that the trend for SPF has been an increase in overseas visitors coming to Jamaica just for the party weekend.

“We had a lot of people coming just from word of mouth from the major diaspora areas of Atlanta and Miami,” he explained.

This trend will be a focus for SPF 2015.

“We’re not into the hard-sell marketing format, so we’ll be doing our best to exploit our options in these places to increase awareness for next year,” he said.

For 2014, Bourke says the choice for the weekend’s highlight was the SPF Fiction: Beach also naming the reasons for the continued success of the signature Ocho Rios party weekend as team effort and being value for money in these challenging economic times.

“Fiction: Beach was planned from the quality of the food from the hotel, to having easy access bars, to the entertainment package. The whole thing showed off what a great team we have putting on SPF.”
