Journalist T Boots Harris dies from heart attack

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Veteran Jamaican entertainment journalist, broadcaster and publisher, Trevor Boots Harris, died on Saturday evening from a heart attack.

Harris, who was also a sound and stage consultant since 1993, had been reporting on Jamaican entertainment for more than 40 years, including stints with the Jamaica Gleaner, Star and The Herald.

He also published volumes of articles in various entertainment magazines focusing on reggae and syndicated the weekly ‘Entertainment Round Up’ on South Florida’s Mystic 1400 AM.

His latest radio assignment was hosting the ‘World Beat’ show on Jamaica’s Bess FM Sundays between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm, which he hosted up to August this year.

Harris also recently completed his first book, ‘Understanding Reggae and Rastafari’ in which he looks at the connection between Rastafari, ska, reggae, jazz, and other related music genres.
