Princess Popstar moves on
HORSE of the Year, Princess Popstar, was expected to leave the island yesterday for Trinidad and Tobago where she will continue her racing career.
Trainer of the three-year-old filly Phillip Feanny confirmed to the Complete Racing Guide, that “The Princess” was scheduled to leave today (yesterday). “Yes, we are making the preparations for her to leave today (yesterday) all things being equal,” the many time champion trainer said.
The Horse of the Year was restricted by injury to run in the Classics races this season after her devastating two-year-old career in which she won all her four races. She raced only two times this year, winning with aplomb both times. Princess Popstar therefore leaves Jamaica unbeaten with a record of six wins from six starts. She is regarded by punters as one of the best, filly or colt, to grace the racetrack at Caymanas Park.
In Trinidad she will be trained by John O’Brien who has won the title of champion trainer in the twin-island republic several times. It is expected that Princess Popstar will race in the Trinidad Derby which is scheduled for the latter part of September. It is not known at this time whether the Adore The Gold — Doc’s Paladin progeny will have a warm-up race before she competes in the Trinidad Derby.
Princess Popstar is owned by Paul Hoo and Herbie Chong.
