Food is love, food is passion
Miss Jamaica Universe 2014 contestant Kaci Fennell has food on her mind. “Food brings us all together,” she tells Thursday Life in the midst of her bake sale, which took place last week Saturday in her College Green community. “[It] makes us feel warm inside and after a fantastic meal you feel fulfilled and ready for the world again.” It is this warm, fuzzy feeling that the model-cum beauty contestant wants to replicate – as many times as possible – to those “struggling to survive on a low income”.
Fennell’s bake sale raised $80,000, which surpassed her original target of $60,000. The funds raised went towards the purchase of over 120 meals, which were distributed to those in need on Tuesday and Wednesday last.
Fennell tells Thursday Life that she is grateful to National Bakery, which donated over $30,000 worth of goods to include in the snack packs, as well as Michelle Smith of Chocolate Dreams, Kim Fennell, Irene Moodie, and friends and strangers alike who helped in this initiative.
