Guardian Life ‘invests’ $2m in students
TWENTY-THREE students were last Tuesday presented with scholarships and grants at the ninth Annual Guardian Life GSAT Scholarship Awards Ceremony.
The students, who all excelled in the March sitting of the Grade Six Achievement Test, will all begin secondary studies next month.
Among the scholarship recipients were Alexander Crooks from St Richards Primary and Victoria Richards from Hopefield Preparatory, who were designated ‘top boy’ and ‘top girl’, respectively. Each was presented with a scholarship valued at $250,000, payable over five years at $50,000 per annum.
In addition, grants valued at $30,000 each were presented to seven students from Denham Town, Alpha, and Duhaney Park Primary schools. Meanwhile, 14 grants valued at $25,000 each were presented to children of staff at Guardian Life
At last Tuesday’s awards ceremony, it was disclosed that Guardian Life will invest an additional $1 million to assist a number of basic, primary and secondary school students with their back-to-school expenses.
During his address, Guardian Life President Eric Hosin emphasised the importance of investing in and supporting educational initiatives. He implored the scholarship recipients to continue to excel in their studies and get involved in other areas such as sports, service clubs and through volunteerism.
“Find new passions outside of academia; develop an active and balanced life as these all form part of the education process,” Hosin said.
