Barbican, Waterhouse clash to highlight Women’s Premier League
DEFENDING champions Barbican FC and Waterhouse FC will highlight match day five of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF)/Sherwin Williams Women’s Premier League when they face off in a Zone A top-of-the-table clash at Barbican Complex today.
All games are set to begin at 3:30 pm.
Both teams are currently locked on nine points; however, Barbican FC remain at the helm with a superior goal difference.
It is expected to be an exciting contest, as the six-time champions continued their unbeaten run with a 3-1 beating of Portmore Strikers FC, while Waterhouse blanked Arnett Gardens 3-0 at home.
Arnett Gardens (six points) are now in third place having lost their two previous games. The ‘junglists’ will also be involved in an interesting contest when they match strides with fourth-placed Portmore Strikers FC.
The other game will see sixth-placed Olympic Gardens FC (one point) hosting fifth-placed Trelawny Women’s FC, while St Mary’s Rangers FC will be the zone’s resting team.
Los Perfectos FC (nine points) moved to the top of Zone B with a superior goal difference after a 5-1 pounding of St James Women’s Academy. They will seek to extend their lead when they face a struggling Real Morant Strikers who earned their first point with a 2-2 draw against Boys’ Town.
Meanwhile, second-placed GC Foster College (nine points) remain unbeaten and will now take aim at fourth-placed Harbour View FC (four points) who went down 1-3 to UWI Women’s in their last fixture. The win propelled the latter to third on six points and they will be idle today, while the other game will see sixth-placed St James Women’s Academy (four points) going up against Boys’ Town FC (one point).
