February 2015 trial date for Daryl Vaz
KINGSTON, Jamaica—A trial date of February 16, 2015 has been set for the Opposition’s Daryl Vaz when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court Thursday morning.
Vaz was charged along with Senior Superintendent of Police James Forbes and businessman Bruce Bicknell for breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.
His co-accused Forbes was convicted on a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice in May, while Bicknell was freed earlier in the year on a no-case submission at the end of the Crown’s case.
Vaz allegedly approached Forbes to assist Bicknell after the businessman was stopped for a traffic offence and accused of attempting to bribe a police officer.
