Sunday Sprint off
SUNDAY’S fourth and final round of the Drivers Rallysport Club’s (DRC) Sprint Championship at Bog Walk, St Catherine has been postponed to October 5 by the event organisers.
It will take the place of the rally that had been scheduled for that day.
“It was a basic business decision,” Wayne Piper, DRC president, told Auto.
Piper cited several factors beginning with the short turnaround time for competitors between this date and the previous round in St Elizabeth.
“With a three week turnaround between events and only six cars entering the last event, it was unlikely the sprint this weekend would be well attended,” he said.
Other issues leading to the changes included the timing of the sprint with the bird hunting season and the inability to secure a venue for the October 5 rally.
“There are a high number of our competitors who are participating in the bird bush season which would have impacted participation levels as well,” said Piper.
He hopes the extra time will allow competitors to better recover and offer less of scheduling conflict with their other activities. The Bog Walk sprint on October 5 will see the course used in the June staging there run in reverse.
