Atletico takes derby spoils
Real Madrid continued their poor start to the 2014/2015 La Liga season after losing 2-1 to neighbours Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty ensured they entered the break level after Tiago’s opening header but substitute Arda Turan’s goal on 76 minutes proved to be the difference. It was Atletico’s second win at the Bernabeu in two seasons.
Lionel Messi and Neymar combined beautifully to complete Barcelona’s 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao. Both goals came after 78 minutes of resilient Athletic defending, but Neymar’s decisive introduction came with a decisive brace for La Blaugrana, who remains top.
Celta Vigo 2 – Real Sociedad 2
Valencia 3 – Espanyol 1
Sevilla 2 – Getafe 0
Another win for the top 2
Last season’s champions and runner-up Juventus of Turin and AS Roma both secured their second win of the new season.

In Tuscany, it took a Luigi Sepe own goal to give Roma a 1-0 victory over Empoli despite Roma’s attack being largely disappointing.
Lazio 3 – Cesena 0
Napoli 0 – Chievo 1
