Doctor to provide medical update on Toronto mayor
TORONTO, Canada (AP) — The brother of controversial Toronto Mayor Rob Ford says a doctor will provide a medical update on Ford’s health today.
The mayor has been hospitalised since last Wednesday with a tumour in his abdomen. Biopsy results were expected to take a week.
Ford, 45, withdrew his re-election bid Friday as he seeks treatment for the tumour, dramatically ending a campaign he had doggedly pursued despite a stint in rehab and calls for him to quit amid drug and alcohol scandals.
Ford’s brother, city councillor Doug Ford, said a doctor will provide an update Wednesday at about 5:00 pm local time. Doug Ford says his brother is having a “tough go” of it and he says it is “heart wrenching”.
Doug Ford is running for mayor in Rob’s place.
