One injured in St Andrew crash
A sideman on a truck transporting scrap metal was seriously injured on Friday when the vehicle flipped over and slammed into a wall on Kirkland Close, St Andrew.
The driver of the truck said that the vehicle developed mechanical problems while being driven on Red Hills Road, which forced him to divert the vehicle away from the busy thoroughfare. The accident occurred approximately 3:00 pm.
“While I was driving I noticed that the brake on the vehicle failed me; all I could do was turn the truck up a hill along Kirkland Close,” the frightened driver told the Jamaica Observer on Friday.
One of the sidemen was pinned between the vehicle and the wall. He was later freed when the vehicle was flipped back on its wheels and rushed to hospital for treatment.
