Sandals US Travel Agents Golf Tourney tees off weekend

Over 100 travel agents from across the United States will be participating in the 12th Annual United States Tournament at the Sandals Golf and Country Club this weekend (Friday and Saturday).

Organised in teams of four, participants will meet on the green and put their skills to the test, competing in various competitions throughout the tournament.

The tournament is expected to provide major exposure for Jamaica as a golfing destination, showcasing the island’s product to various cities across the United States.

According to Tony Ebanks, Sandals Golf and Country Club manager, the course is in great condition and all set to host the exciting event.

“We have a great mix of veterans and newcomers this year,” Ebanks noted. “This event is definitely a boost for Jamaica and we anticipate a great product.”

As part of this weekend’s activities, Ditector of Tourism Paul Pennicook will address golfers and other interest groups at a dinner and party at nearby Beaches Ocho Rios on Friday.

The following evening Minister of Tourism Wykeham McNeil is expected to adddress the dinner and awards ceremony of the golf tourney at Sandals Grande Riviera.

Earlier this week, Sandals also staged its second annual Latin America Travel Agent Golf Tournament which brought together 68 travel agents from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and El Salvador.

Participants enjoyed a weekend of friendly competition, and exclusive activities over the course of the tournament, while being hosted at both Sandals Grande Riviera Beach & Villa Golf Resort and Beaches Ocho Rios Resort & Golf Club.

A similar experience awaits those participating in this weekend’s tournament.
