ACHIEVERS — Destinee CONDISON
MEET Destinee Condison, a 16-year-old graduate of the Holy Childhood High School. She passed all nine of her CSEC subjects (two ones, five twos, and two threes).
At the beginning of the exam period, going into her first exam, she was prepared and a bit nervous because her first exam was her favourite subject — visual arts.
However, for every other exam that passed, she felt confident but for some there’s always that “feeling of you feeling like you could’ve done better”.
Her determination she attests, was a key factor in her success. And, I was mostly excited for it to all be over.
“Before CSEC,” says Destinee, “I’m not going to lie, it was a very hectic experience with trying to complete all your SBAs on time along with studying several subjects.”
Her preparations entailed going to several extra lessons after school, on Saturdays and Sundays and a lot of marathons for the subjects she thought were more difficult.
“Often times my friends and I would have study sessions even though sometimes [we] ended up talking about things completely irrevelant”, but they helped, she said.
For goals, Destinee voiced that in the future, she would love to go into the field arts, media and entertainment, whether as a photographer, graphic designer, musician or something in the culinary arts.
She feels that because there are so many things she wants to achieve in life she likes to keep her options open. “Whatever I end up doing I plan to succeed and do it to the best of my ability.”
Her hobbies include those of playing and practising the guitar, singing, drawing, taking pictures, reading, and eating food. She advises upcoming CSEC students to not procrastinate, get all their work done on time, not doubting self and staying focused because the future holds great things and you can achieve anything you put your mind to.
