Tiler caught sleeping at doctor’s office jailed
A Kingston tiler was Monday sentenced to three months and 10 days in prison after he was caught trespassing at a doctor’s office in New Kingston for the second time this year.
The tiler, Rohan Davey, a 35-year-old resident of West Main Drive, Kingston 20, was sentenced to three months in prison for trespassing and 10 days in jail for resisting arrest.
Davey, who is also a welder, was caught sleeping at the doctor’s office on Ripon Road on a piece of board about 2:00 am after he was arrested in February for trespassing on the same property.
“Why yuh nuh leave de people dem place?” Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey asked Davey when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.
Davey did not respond and was further asked how much time he had spent in jail when he had trespassed on the premises the first time.
“Me neva get nuh time, me just get a fine of $5,000 and the judge tell me say me must be careful,” he answered.
“Well I am going to send you to prison to for it. You can’t fool me like you fool the other judge because I know what you are doing and you know what you are doing,” RM Pusey then said to Davey.
Davey was found sleeping on the premises on September 19, but wriggled out of the clutches of the police, jumped a perimeter fence and escaped. However, he left a knapsack behind with documents and several condoms. The owner of the premises was contacted and he told the police that he had not given Davey any permission to sleep at his office.
