Field Maintenance cop Noranda football title
NORANDA Bauxite’s Field Maintenance team emerged winners of the Noranda Wellness Trophy after beating the Mines Production team 3-0 in an exciting final at the Port Rhoades Sports Club in Discovery Bay on Wednesday.
Both teams were evenly matched and gave good accounts of themselves, but superior shooting from Jamal Wilson (two goals) and skipper William McKoy gave the edge to the winners.
The competition was played among 20 teams from the bauxite mines and plant operations and drew large crowds of spectators from surrounding communities in western St Ann.
A Noranda Community League competition with 33 clubs is also underway at the Port Rhoades and Wilson Shop grounds in St Ann and is heading into the final rounds next week.
