Everybody knows
WHEN New York-based producer Lamar ‘Lala’ Reynolds laid the track for Kranium’s Nobody Have to Know, little did he know it would pave the way for bigger projects.
“We knew it was a hit, but I didn’t expect it to reach this far. It exceeded my expectations,” told the Jamaica Observer.
Released last April, the track has become a party favourite in America’s tri-state area as well as in Jamaica.
The 23-year-old recalls his entry into the music industry.
“I have been producing for a few years, but I got my break in 2010 when I produced Nothing a Change, a collaboration with Gentleman and Da Professor,” he said.
Among his latest productions are a mixtape for American rapper Jo Jo Simmons called Perfecting the Craft.
Simmons is the son of RUN DMC’s founding member Lloyd Simmons.
“It has a lot to do with networking, while producing good music. I don’t flood myself with numerous projects at once. This way I can spend quality time on each,” he said.
He recently produced Elephant Man’s track called Shmoney Dance.
Gowing up in Havendale, St Andrew, Reynolds was focussed on acquiring a solid education. After completing his studies at Jamaica College in St Andrew, he migrated to New York and attended the Institute of Audio Research (IAR). In 2010, he graduated from St John’s University with a Bachelor’s Mass Communication.
He is currently working on dancehall deejay Erupt’s album and Kranium’s EP.
