St Andrew, Immaculate meet in netball leagues
FORMER champions St Andrew High will take on Immaculate Conception as the 2014 Digicel/ISSA Urban High Schoolgirl Junior and Senior Leagues netball competitions continue this afternoon at seven school venues.
The St Andrew and Immaculate Conception Zone ‘C’ encounter will be played at the former school’s courts, Cecelio Avenue, starting at 2:30 pm in the Juniors and 3:15 in the Seniors.
St Andrew, coached by Jennifer Brown, will be playing their first game of the season as their first opponent withdrew from both the Junior and Senior leagues.
Immaculate, coached by Terrence Peart, will be looking to make it three straight in the Juniors, having beaten Edith Dalton-James 19-6 and Penwood High 23-11. However, they will have to play really well to deny St Andrew from coming out victorious.
Matches scheduled for both the Junior and Senior Leagues are: Clan Carthy vs Penwood; Alpha Academy vs Edith Dalton-James; Dunoon Technical vs Papine High; Ardenne High vs Holy Trinity High; Meadowbrook High vs Tarrant High. Cumberland High vs Norman Manley High; St Andrew Technical High (STETHS) vs Bridgeport High; Charlie Smith High vs Spanish Town High. (Home teams are named first with the Juniors beginning at 2:30 and the Seniors scheduled to start at 3:15).
Meanwhile, results of matches played last Wednesday (October 1, 2014); Juniors — Vauxhall beat Trench Town High 20-14; Jonathan Grant High outscored St Jago High 19-11; Hold Childhood defeated Eltham High 33-7.
Wolmer’s Girls cruised past Mona High 26-8; Jose Marti Technical and St Mary’s College played to a 12-12 draw; Excelsior High defeated Campion College 24-14; St Hugh’s High beat Hydel High 24-12.
Results of Senior League matches played on last Wednesday (October 1, 2014). Campion College clipped Excelsior High 17-16; Jonathan Grant beat St Jago High 26-22; Mona High got past Wolmer’s Girls 16-14.
