Tough matches await Denbigh, Holmwood in school netball
DEFENDING champions Denbigh High and Holmwood Technical will face different opponents as the 2014 ISSA/Digicel Rural High Schoolgirls Junior and Senior Leagues continue this morning at The Queen’s Court and GC Foster College, respectively.
Denbigh will take on Marymount High at The Queen’s High School Courts at 10:30, while Holmwood go up against Charlemont High at 11:30 at GC Foster College.
Denbigh are currently unbeaten from their zone.
However, the May Pen aggregation should begin their second-round encounter on a winning note.
The second round promises to be very interesting as the teams will be facing each other for the first time this season and are placed in four groups of six teams each with the winners and runners-ups advancing to the quarter-finals to be played in a knockout format.
Some of the fancied teams in this round are Manchester High, winners of the Rural Opening Rally for Juniors and Seniors; defending Senior League champions Holmwood Technical; defending Junior League champions Denbigh, along with danger teams Herbert Morrison, Anchovy High, STETHS and Bellefield.
The high-riding Titchfield Junior and Senior teams, who did extremely well last year in placing third and fourth in the Junior and Senior competitions, respectively, could be the most dangerous school. So far they have won all their preliminary matches by wide margins.
