Ram Goat Run: Repeat win for Save Goat Islanders
KINGSTON, Jamaica — For the second year in a row, team Save Goat Islanders lifted the prestigious Ram Goat Run trophy at Hope Gardens in St Andrew, on Saturday.
The team — comprising Rene Gayle, Jason Allen, Trevor Anderson and Michelle Ferguson — racked up enough points in the inter-parish cross-country road challenge for a repeat performance.
Michelle Ferguson was tight-lipped on her team’s strategy.
“Let’s just say we have a great synergy,” she chuckled.
Teams NOA (National Outdoor Advertising) and Rock and Rolla were second and third, respectively.
Ram Goat Run is geared at raising funds for the We Care For Cornwall Regional Hospital Foundation.
Organisers were aiming for US$50,000. Last year, the event raised US$20,000.
Stephen Hector, global PR director of Sandals Resorts International and event organiser, was pleased with Saturday’s staging.
“We had 120 teams … and people were having lots of fun for a worthy cause,” he said.
The event saw contestants starting at Hope Gardens in St Andrew and head to Yallahs in St Thomas. Additional stops were made at Port Royal in Kingston and at the Sun Coast Adventure Park in Twelve Miles, Bull Bay, St Thomas. They tried to solve clues and gain points towards finding the ‘elusive ram’.
