Pepsi lauds LIME Super Cup
THE inaugural LIME Super Cup will come to a close today, as defending Manning Cup and Olivier Shield champions Jamaica College face Holy Trinity High School at Sabina Park.
Pepsi Cola Jamaica, the official beverage sponsor, jumped at the chance to be a part of the single knockout tournament, the LIME Super Cup.
According to Mitchell Watson, marketing manager at Pepsi, the company is elated at the success of the competition.
“We are quite impressed with how the competition has unfolded; the professionalism displayed by the organisers, coaches and players is commendable. Pepsi made the right decision to partner,” Watson said.
The tournament, which kicked off October 18 with seven group winners and second place team in the Manning Cup and the eight winners in the daCosta Cup inter-zone round, has now boiled down to two very skilful teams vying for the coveted Cup.
“Over the past four weeks, Pepsi has offered product specials and brought a different element to the popular secondary school football competition.
“I believe LIME has been successful in creating what I think will quickly become one of the most prestigious football tournaments in the country. We cannot wait to see who will emerge the overall champion this Saturday. A great deal of skill and talent has been demonstrated on the field, Pepsi feels proud to be a part of this sport development,” concluded Watson.
