Nesbeth: On to Victory
THE cliché term ‘from nothing to something’ is rarely used by Nesbeth, but can be seen as a fitting description to explain his background and current position.
The Taste Victory singer greeted us like an old friend when we arrived at the Jan Biggs studio and within minutes we were all laughing and joking around, just before we Press Record.
We learnt that his given name is Greg Nesbeth but he chose to use his surname as the people who supported him most already knew him by that name.
From the discovery of his love for music he has been intent on the preservation of the music itself. When asked if he had made any changes over the years he promptly replied, “I am no longer as naïve, you know.”
He spoke of the personal growth and maturity he had experienced since first arriving on the music scene. He attributes this to the many experiences he has had.
These experiences and struggles are often the inspiration for his music. He believes this makes him a positive role model for all young people, but especially those who have a dream they think is impossible to reach.
Not only does he preach humility and positivity — he lives it and shares stories in his music that young people can relate to and find inspiration from. He admitted that he feels more comfortable with this — his third official label.
Along with a 12 state American tour, Nesbeth is set to drop his EP Victory.
Hits like Ol Ganga Lee and Taste Victory will certainly heat things up even more after the five tracks, distributed by Zojak Worldwide is released online on November 18 (now available for pre order on iTunes).
Still on the path of Victory, Nesbeth shares with teenAGE that each track has a special meaning.
Hundu Lay Lay, is a soulful song, which appeals to the African Nations to unite and is self-produced.
The official launch of Victory will be on November 17 on the lawns of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.
