‘PNP territory and no road’
JAMAICA Observer online readers have responded to Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller’s declaration that the parish of Westmoreland is a “territory” of the People’s National Party which she leads. Simpson Miller made the assertion at a rally in Central Westmoreland on Sunday to present Dwayne Vaz as the party’s candidate for the December 1 by-election to select a member of parliament for the constituency. Here are some edited comments:

They should be ashamed to see how the PNP territory underdeveloped after being in government for over 18 years. It is obvious the people of Westmorelad will settle for less than what they really deserve, as long as their party is in control.

Not only Westmoreland; the whole Jamaica, including the NHT funds, JUTC, Government funds to
buy SUVs, funds
to purchase cellphones and chat as long as you want, etc, belong to the PNP.

PNP territory huh, with crime rife in the area and bad road and poverty walking hand in hand. If that is what being a “PNP territory”, means these people need to be rescued from their own stupidity of putting these inept politicians back into power time and time again. After all, control has been in the PNP’s hands for 30 years and this is their area. So, if they wanted better for the people of Westmoreland then the PNP could have done better.

All of Jamaica is PNP country, hence all of Jamaica wallowing in poverty and destitution as a consequence of PNP policies.

Westmoreland and all of Jamaica belongs to Jamaicans and the only campaign that the PNP should be involved in now is to rid Jamaica of CHIKV, that is causing havoc on the lives of Jamaicans. Jamaicans will put up with mismanagement, but not intimidation. Memba dat.

Yes, bwoy, Sista P inna har element. Quiet as a mouse all year; here comes campaign time and she’s transformed. Now she’s perky, loquacious and chatty like a parrot. The zest and enthusiasm ‘ticians show for party compared to country is night and day and the diehards who support them have the same virus.

I guess the people love a failed state that the PNP are so good at producing after 20 years of corruption and mismanagement.

Portia in her element… matter of fact the PNP in their element. If only running a country was as invigorating, fulfilling and rewarding as an election campaign? At least we get to hear something from the prime minister …thought she lost her voice.
