CTC’s black and white affair
The Church Teachers’ College (CTC) is marking its 50th year of existence.
As part of the celebrations, which will continue into mid-2015, members of the alumni association recently held a black-and-white cocktail at the institution’s poolside, aiming to raise funds for their alma mater.
“It is one of the ways in which the alumni association is (directly) doing its part for the fiftieth anniversary,” said head of the planning committee for the event and lecturer at CTC, Tracey Ann Anderson.
She told Observer Central that in previous years the funding went towards assisting students financially, a supper programme for those living on the dormitories and scholarships.
Guests were treated to live entertainment, a fashion show, a silent auction and had the chance to take home prizes in the form of pre-paid phone credit and for one patron, a BlackBerry Z10 smart phone.
Anderson believes that this year’s event, sponsored by Jamaica Standard Products, CB Chicken, Barita Investments, Auction House and Pelpa’s Electrical Supplies, received its largest support since inception in 2012.
Fiftieth anniversary activities still on the agenda include a Special Education Conference, Research Day, Recognition and Awards Ceremony, an Evening of Excellence, a 5K Marathon and a banquet.
