T’ People look to regain lead in Western Confed Super League

MONTEGO BAY, St James – TOMORROW’S People will be seeking to retake the lead in the Jamaica Football Federation’s Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League, when they take on winless Montego Bay Boys’ Club in a rescheduled game at the UDC field this afternoon, starting at 3:00 pm.

The game was originally scheduled for Sunday, but was rained out and postponed for today, along with the Village vs Violet Kickers game at the Elleston Wakeland field in Falmouth.

Former champions Savannah SC passed Tomorrow’s People and took over the top position in the points tables on Tuesday, after chalking up their third straight win, a 4-0 blanking of Holland United at Frome.

Savannah SC are on nine points, two more than Tomorrow’s People, both from three games each.

Sandals Whitehouse, who also won on Tuesday, and Wadadah FC are on six points each. Violet Kickers, Granville FC, Jericho Rangers and Salt Marsh United, who had their first win on Tuesday, are on three points each.

Tomorrow’s People will start red hot favourites to beat Boys Club which have lost both games played so far, and is the only team yet to score a goal.

The reliable Donville Cornwall, Andre Atkinson and Damion Nelson, are expected to lead the Tomorrow’s People team, as they seek their third win in four games.

Violet Kickers are coming off a 2-0 win over Boys’ Club and will be confident going into their game against Village, who drew both games at Elleston Wakeland.

On Tuesday, the high octane Savannah SC became the first team to win their first three games, while Sandals Whitehouse won back-to-back games, and promoted Salt Marsh United got their first win.

Michael Kerr scored twice for Savannah SC, as they trounced Holland United 4-0 and took their points tally to 11 from three games.

Kerr scored in the 12th and 21st minutes to give Savannah SC a 2-0 lead at half-time, while Ron Daley (in the 60th minute) and Leaton Galloway (in the 79th minute) added goals in the second half.

Sandals Whitehouse beat Beaches Negril 2-1 in the match-up of the hotel teams.

Aldane Samuels scored in the 34th minute to give Sandals the lead, but Kemar Dawkins scored for Beaches Negril in the 70th minute.

However, Dale Spence got the winner in the 86th minute, as Beaches were left stranded on one point.

Promoted Salt Marsh United finally secured a win after three tries, edging fellow first-timers Jericho Rangers 1-0 at Watson Taylor Park in another rescheduled game played in Lucea.

Jordane Clarke scored the winner for the Trelawny club in the 62nd minute.
