Manchester clubs drop points

Barca wins to revive league form

Lionel Messi put the internal issues behind him to round off the scoring for Barcelona in their relieving 3-1 win over champions Atletico Madrid.

Barca’s fearsome front three all thrived as Neymar and Luis Suarez both scored from close range before Mario Mandzukic’s intervening penalty.

Messi confirmed the win on 86 minutes after a period of pressure from Atletico.

Real Madrid also returned to winning ways after cruising to a 3-0 victory over Espanyol.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men went 2-0 up after 28 minutes when Gareth Bale struck an absolutely superb free kick in off the upright after James Rodriguez’s opener. Despite Fabio Coentrao’s second-half ejection Real later added another through Nacho Fernandez.

Roman gladiator rescues Giallorossi

Another Derby della Capitale played and it did not disappoint as Lazio and AS Roma played to an exciting 2-2 draw at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico. Lazio took control in the first half by surging to a 2-0 lead.

However, Francesco Totti had something to say and the Roman gladiator scored identical volleys to save a point for AS Roma.

To top that off, Totti took a selfie with an iPhone to celebrate his second goal.
