KEISHA’S NEW MISSION
A BEAMING Keisha Lawrence collected her grand prize of a 2015 Audi A3 S-Line at ATL Automotive on Oxford Road in New Kingston, on Wednesday. She is the winner of the Digicel Ultimate Mission promotion.
The self-employed, August Town native has another mission.
“I actually going to sell the car. I’m going to take that money and invest it,” Lawrence, 29, told Auto.
She sees the prize as an early gift for her birthday next month.
“I had a good feeling from the beginning, even dreaming about the car, so I planned for it. I didn’t believe it at first when I was selected though,” said Lawrence.
It wasn’t until she confirmed with Digicel customer care that she acknowledged that she had a legitimate chance at the Audi.
She said she went into promotional overdrive, pushing friends and family on social media, printing out flyers to distribute herself and even receiving credit from her Member of Parliament, Andre Hylton.
“I even had a phone card party. I knew they would get me in the challenges because of some of the questions,” she explained.
Valued at $5.8 million, the car comes with a year’s free insurance and Audi’s three-year service package.
“She won the ultimate car in the ultimate competition… to see someone walk away was a very fulfilling experience,” said Etus Collman, Audi brand manager.
“The promotion took the Audi brand and put it in front of everyone with a cell phone,” he continued.
Lawrence and the other three contestants battled for the two days within the confines of a Volkswagen Bug set up on the stage at 1 Waterloo Road, across from Devon House in St Andrew.
The challenges included a scavenger hunt, trivia games, memory challenges, and eating raw food – all streamed live on Digicel?s Facebook page. The winner of the Ultimate Mission was determined based on a combination of points accumulated for completing the challenges, call/text votes and online votes.
Lawrence?s nearest rival Sacha Shaw-Cuthbert, took home $500,000. The sole male contestant Andre Bowyer won $300,000 while Patricia Gillings got $200,000.
Peter Lloyd, marketing director at Digicel, said the promotion as a success after confirming the stream at one point had 30,000 viewers. The final two challenges were done live on television.
“This has started the year for us on a high, and we’re not certain how we’re going to top this yet,” Lloyd said.
