Richy Whiz continues musical legacy
TRENCH Town has a rich musical history. It was the former home of reggae legend Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh and The Skatalites.
Using these acts as role models, up-and-coming singjay Richy Whiz is hoping to etch his name among the greats.
He is banking on Beach Nurse, a track released last month and produced on his Whiz Production label.
“Beach Nurse is already getting favourable reviews. I do hope that
the trend continues. It’s a song for the females and the music video is already in the making. Like any artistes, I do hope that the track
will create great waves,” he said.
The 24-year-old singjay said he is also getting favourable responses from other singles Chickitita, Pretty Cinderella, and End of Time.
A past student of St Joseph High School in St Andrew, Richy Whiz (given name Richard Bailey) started building rhythms on his computer at 15. These include Freedom Life Acoustic Rhythm, which features I Wayne, Capelton, Lutan Fyah and Nesbeth.
He is also the creator of On Target Dancehall Rhythm which also featured Nesbeth, Munga Honourable and Lawgiver.
In 2011, the singjay released his self-produced debut single called Moment of Silence. Others followed included Please Don’t Trouble Me Officer, Salvation, and Chalice Night Out.
The entertainer is currently busy in the recording studios laying the tracks for his yet-to-be-titled EP and mixtape.
