The Queen’s, Holmwood cop most awards at ISSA netball presentation ceremony
THE Queen’s School and Holmwood Technical walked away with the majority of the spoils at the 2014 Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) netball awards ceremony at the Terra Nova Hotel on Tuesday.
But it was, however, goal-attack Shanique Francis of The Queen’s, and centre Nalieka Watson of Holmwood sharing the spotlight of the 2014 season as both captured the most valuable player awards for the All-Island Junior and Senior Championships, respectively.
Meanwhile, for the most valuable player awards, goal-attack Hasana Williams and goal-defence Susan Douglas of The Queen’s were the respective winners for the Urban Junior and Senior Leagues.
Denbigh High’s centre Chris-Ann Thompson and Holmwood Technical’s centre Nalieka Watson captured the most valuable player awards for the Rural Area Junior and Senior Leagues, respectively.
The most accurate shooting awards for the Urban Junior League was won by Tishauna Daley of The Queen’s with an 86 per cent accuracy, while the Senior League went to Kadie-Ann Duhaney of St Hugh’s with a 96 per cent accuracy.
For the most accurate shooters in the Rural Area competitions, the junior section was won by Mayah Manning of Denbigh High with a 90 per cent accuracy, with the senior going to Tracy-Ann Francis of Holmwood with an 85 per cent accuracy.
Champion coaches from the various schools also received plaques and trophies, with Marvette Anderson of The Queen’s School capturing the double in the Urban Junior and Senior Leagues, while Shanice Hancel-Walker of Denbigh High and Carline Graham-Powell were champion coaches of the Rural Junior and Senior Leagues, respectively.
All zone winners of the Urban Junior and Senior Leagues received trophies, as did the winners in the Rural Junior and Senior Leagues.
