15 Antiguans get Chinese scholarships
ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC) — The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has secured 15 scholarships that will offer students the opportunity to study in China.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne ,who made the announcement said as a result of recent trips to China and Cuba, the scholarships being offered annually by these nations have increased.
“Coming out of my visit to the People’s Republic of China and meetings with the premier and president of that country, we now have 15 scholarships available for study in China — up by five scholarships from previous years,” Browne said.
“… For 2015, coming out of my visit to Cuba and my meeting with President Raul Castro, Antigua and Barbudan students have available six scholarships to study medicine, one scholarship to study dentistry and two medical scholarships for our doctors to specialise in the fields of internal medicine, pediatrics, gynaecology, general surgery or epidemiology,” said the prime minister.
He also announced that his government has secured scholarships from Russia with three undergraduate degree programmes being offered in architecture, mass media and information, and service and tourism.
