Patty ‘raise’?!
Dear Editor,
Tastee Jamaica Limited is playing unfair. Imagine my surprise to find out they have increased the prices of the various products they currently offer.
I work and live in close proximity to two Tastee outlets and frequent both establishments, and there was no notification at either of the two indicating that there would be a price increase.
Despite the harsh economic realities that businesses in this country are currently facing, I see no need for a price increase. Tastee can definitely boast
of skyrocketing turnover throughout its widespread network as it offers what many of us can afford. Plus, the JPS has forecast a reduction in the energy bills for this month. I cannot see on what basis they decided to apply an increase.
A regular beef patty now costs $140, up from $120, and the potato dices have moved to $ 180, a drastic increase from $115. On top of that, the quality of service at some branches is rather poor.
Tastee needs to remember what has caused them to remain relevant: the fact that they are the cheapest of all the fast-food restaurants that currently operate in Jamaica. The fact that they have now established themselves in some of our schools also means that we, as parents, will now have to fork out more cash for lunch money.
Something needs to be said about what I consider unnecessary price increases to customers. Before we know it, one patty will cost as much as $300.
