Under-15 Boyz depart for Cayman Islands
A national Under-15 boys’ squad will depart Jamaica today at 8:55 am for the Cayman Islands to participate in the second staging of the Cayman International Youth Football Tournament (CIYFT).
The tournament will feature Under-16 and Under-15 Cayman, Athletic SC Select and Future SC Select teams. The fourth team is the defending 2014 CIYFT champion Under-15 team from English League One outfit, Swindon Town Football Club. The four teams will compete in a round-robin tournament. Jamaica play their first game against the Future SC Select team on the same day of arrival at 7:00 pm.
Participation in the tournament will be excellent practice for players who could be part of Jamaica’s National Under-15 squad which will take part in the CONCACAF Under-15 Championships, also to take place in Cayman in August.
CONCACAF has already announced that the second edition of the CONCACAF Boys’ Under-15 Championship to be held August 9-23 has attracted applications from a whopping 34 of the 41 member associations of the Confederation.
The team had a final training session yesterday at 4:00 pm at the JFF Football Centre.
The players will be accompanied by head of delegation Everton Tomlinson, head coach Aaron Lawrence, assistant coach Lamar Morgan.
The delegation returns on Sunday at 8:00 pm.
