JN Sunshine Open League netball semis on today

DEFENDING champions University of the West Indies (UWI) Pelicans face Mico ‘B’ in one of two semi-finals of the 2015 Netball Jamaica/Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) Open League competition today at the St Andrew High School For Girls Courts, starting at 6:45 pm.
The other semi-final match between former many-time champions Jamalco and Cablepro will also be played at 6:45 pm. The winners of both semi-finals will meet in the final scheduled to be played on Saturday.
Pelicans reached today’s semi-finals when they defeated Alpha ‘A’ 38-21; while Mico ‘B’ trounced GC Foster Strikers ‘A’ 36-12; Jamalco outscored Mico ‘A’ 29-12; Cablepro got past Waulgrovians ‘B’ 33-30 in extra time after the scores were locked at 24-24 at regulation time.
This semi-final encounter between champions Pelicans and Mico ‘B’ will be a repeat of last year’s final.
Meanwhile, Jamalco are expected to defeat Cablepro in their semi-final encounter.
The consolation knockout semi-finals will also be played this evening with Molynes United ‘A’ up against Waulgrovians ‘B’, and Police ‘A’ facing Blades United ‘A’ at 5:45 pm.
Molynes ‘A’ reached the semi-finals when they defeated Friendship 27-21; Police ‘A’ rushed past Global United ‘A’ 37-24; Waulgrovians ‘B’ outscored Molynes United ‘B’ 19-21; Blades United ‘A’ defeated Raven 35-24.
